Summerside 18U AA Chevys Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Cornwall Cougars

Summerside 18U AA Chevys took the lead late and defeated Cornwall Cougars 9-7 on Monday. The game was tied at seven with Summerside 18U AA Chevys batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Summerside 18U AA Chevys.

Summerside 18U AA Chevys earned the victory despite allowing Cornwall Cougars to score five runs in the fifth inning. Cornwall Cougars offense in the inning was led by Calen MacPhailChristopher MacDougall, and Keefe Marshall, all driving in runs in the inning.

Summerside 18U AA Chevys opened up scoring in the second inning when Owen Lynchsingled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the fifth inning, Cornwall Cougars tied things up at six when an error scored one run for Cornwall Cougars.

Summerside 18U AA Chevys put up three runs in the third inning.

Lynch was credited with the victory for Summerside 18U AA Chevys. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Jude Rist took the loss for Cornwall Cougars. He surrendered three runs on two hits over three innings, striking out five.

Connor Ellsworth started the game for Summerside 18U AA Chevys. He went four innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out five MacDougall started the game for Cornwall Cougars. He lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out one.

Summerside 18U AA Chevys collected nine hits on the day.  Jacob Dunn and Ben Gallant all managed multiple hits for Summerside 18U AA Chevys.  Dunn led Summerside 18U AA Chevys with three hits in four at bats.

MacPhail went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cornwall Cougars in hits.
