SABA Releases Registration Info for 2019

SUMMERSIDE –The wait is over! Here is everything you need to know to sign up you or your child for the 2019 Baseball season in Summerside!

DIVISION INFORMATION:

Wondering what league you or your child should register for this summer? Below are the leagues and programs we offer.

Blastball:

  • Age 4 to 6 (Player is 4, 5 or 6 during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Runs Monday & Wednesday evenings at the PCH Field, Queen Elizabeth Park. Start Times of 50 min sessions rotate from 5 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm.
  • This program is introductory to Baseball taught by our highly trained and knowledgable Program Staff.
  • If your child has played 2 years at Blastball, they will be permitted to move up to Pony at age 6.
  • Equipment Required: Sneakers or cleats, ball pants or gym pants, water bottle, ball cap, a baseball glove, baseball helmet. Jersey is provided

Pony:

  • Age 7 to 9 (Player is 7, 8 or 9 years or younger during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Runs Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the PCH Field, Queen Elizabeth Park. Start Times of 1 hour and 15 min long sessions rotate from 5 pm and 6:30 pm
  • This program is great for Blastball program graduates but can also be introduced to new ball players. Sessions start with a mini practice followed by a game. The Program staff pitch to the kids at this level.
  • Difference between Pony and Jr Mosquito: No travel for Pony, whereas Jr. mosquito does travel outside of Summerside. Program staff pitch to the players in Pony, whereas Coaches pitch to the players in Jr Mosquito.
  • Equipment Required: Sneakers or cleats, ball pants or gym pants, water bottle, ball cap, a baseball glove, Baseball Helmet. Jersey is provided

Jr. Mosquito:

  • Age 7 to 9 (Player is 9 years or younger during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Practice through the week (Wednesday or Thursday) with your home games being Sunday Evenings at Queen Elizabeth Park. The coach pitches to the players at this level. You play six away games that may be held at any of the following locations (Bedeque, Borden, Kensington, Tignish or Oleary). This program is meant to prepare players for the competitive level of baseball. Having experience in the Blastball or Pony program is suggested to enroll in Jr. Mosquito. 
  • Difference between Pony and Jr Mosquito: Players have to travel in Jr. Mosquito, whereas Pony does not travel outside of Summerside. Program staff pitches to the player in Pony, whereas the coaches pitch in Jr. Mosquito.
  • Equipment Required: Ball Cleats, white ball pants, water bottle, ball cap, a ball glove, ball helmet. Jersey is provided.

COMPETITIVE LEVEL: Here are the divisions we offer at the competitive level, meaning that the player can choose to tryout for one of our “AAA”, or “AA” teams or be placed on one of our “A” teams!

  • Mosquito: 11U (Player is 11 years or younger during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Peewee: 13U (Player turns 12 or 13 years during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Bantam: 15U (Player turns 14 or 15 during the calendar year of 2019)
  • Midget: 18U (Player turns 16, 17 or 18 during the calendar year of 2019)

HOW TO REGISTER:

Wondering what your options are to register you or your child for the upcoming season? We offer both in-person registration and online registration. Here is your need to knows:

In Person Registration: (Credit Union Place Lobby)

  • Wednesday, April 24th 6 pm – 8 pm
  • Saturday, April 27th 9 am – 12 pm

Note: We are cutting down to two registration days in person rather than three as we get set to offer online registration!

Online Registration: (RAMP Registration System – New this season)

Online registration will be available starting April 1st until May 1st. The link for online registration will be available here: https://summersidebaseball.ca/register/

  • Must fill out the same form as in person, but can now be done online.
  • Payment will only be accepted by E-transfer for this season. It will prompt you to pay by e-transfer once completion on the form. The form will not be accepted without payment and payment will only be accepted by e-transfer and no other method. (We are going to look at other methods of payments for next season).
  • You or your child will not be considered registered without the receival of both the form & E-Transfer payment.

Note: It’s not so scary! All you have to do is create an account, log in and follow the easy steps to register.

2019 RATES: 

Here are the fees by division for the 2019 season.

  • Blastball: $100.00
  • Pony: $120.00
  • 9U Jr Mosquito: $140.00
  • 11U Mosquito: $180 + PEIBUA surcharge = $195.00
  • 13U Peewee: $180 + PEIBUA surcharge = $195.00
  • 15U Bantam: $180 + PEIBUA surcharge = $195.00
  • 18U Midget: $180 + PEIBUA surcharge = $195.00

What is a PEIBUA surcharge?: Baseball PEI has granted a 1-year pilot project for PEIBUA (PEI Baseball Umpires Associations) new umpire assignment plan. With that, associations are being charged with increased admin fees for both umpire and provincial / elimination championships. Unfortunately, due to those additional admin fees, associations across PEI are forced to increase their registration fees to cover the costs.

Payment: In Person – Cash or Cheque to “Summerside Area Baseball Association”

Payment: Online – E-Transfer ONLY.

Here are some important reminders surrounding registration!

  • The deadline to register is May 1st 2019
  • Please note that late Registration will only be accepted based on numbers and will be charged a late fee of $30.00 as of May 1st. All players must be registered to attend any tryouts.
