SUMMERSIDE, PEI – The Summerside Area Baseball Association (SABA) announced some very exciting news to the public on Friday morning. It’s official, SABA has signed a Major Sponsorship Deal with a local high profile business, – Township Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd.
Tanner Doiron, President & General Manager of Summerside Area Baseball Association confirmed details today outlining its new partnership with Township, which has been named the official Major Sponsor of PEI’s largest Minor Baseball Association until 2023!
Summerside Area Baseball Association, known regionally and nationally for its tournament hosting, has been without a Major Sponsor since the previous Ownership group of the local Chevrolet Buick GMC dealer was sold to the new Township Ownership in 2015, led by Adam Toner.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Township for the next five (5) years said Tanner Doiron, President & General Manager of Summerside Area Baseball Association. “I really can’t express enough to our members and the community how important this deal is for the future and the growth of this
association . “I cannot wait to work with Adam and his knowledgeable team at Township, who truly care about the community and have genuinely embraced our association with open arms” added Doiron.
Some of the Highlights for the five (5) year deal include:
- Additional Staffing for programming and development.
- Added resources/tools for all SABA teams and programs.
- New Chevys’ uniforms for all SABA teams which will be ready for the 2019 Season.
- New Infrastructure coming to our facilities.
- Financial Stability.
- More FREE day programs to be introduced this upcoming season.
- New “Chevy Cruzer” for promotion and events
with more to be announced in the future…
When asked about the opportunity to partner with SABA, President / General Manager of Township Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd. Adam Toner had this to say: “We here at Township Chevrolet are proud to partner with the Summerside Area Baseball Association and will enjoy working with the Chevys’. “We are excited for the new season to begin. “As a locally owned and operated business, we know the importance of giving back to our local communities. “Our Partnership with the Township Chevys will help more children enhance their love for the sport of baseball and help them grow and learn new skills”.
Township, the winner of the 2018 & 2019 “Dealer of the Year” award from DealerRater.ca for Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC brands were also the recent winner of the 2019 Customer Satisfaction award and is a true leader in Atlantic Canadian Car Dealerships. They also employ more than seventy (70) staff right here in Summerside. They are located at 34 Water Street East and can also be visited online at www.townshipchev.com
Furthermore, the Summerside Area Baseball Associations’ fairly new revamped Board of Directors had many goals in mind when they joined the association but, as Vice-President & Asst. General Manager Wes Echlin explains – “It was time to get serious and really start to grow this brand. “One of our goals, when I and Tanner spoke briefly after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in October was to look at how we can obtain a major sponsor with a partnership that made sense for everyone. “Sure its great to have our well-known and reputable brand “Chevys'” on the front of the uniform, but at the end of the day, it’s part of our job to look at the business side of things. “We needed to really start getting value for our growing association and our brand a-like” added Echlin.
SABA wants to emphasize to its members that with this five-year deal, comes a big responsibility for its twelve (12) Board of Directors who say not all of the additions they are planning on rolling out will come at once. The Board noted it will take some critical thinking at times with our overall goal of improving the association when the opportunity makes sense.
With the announcement of this new deal, the Summerside Area Baseball Association now adds to their quickly growing list of accomplishments they were able to complete so far this off-season:
- Adoption of a New SABA Constitution.
- Winter Development Camp brought to Summerside in Partnership with Baseball PEI.
- The launch of a new independent website.
- New “Tryout Committee” introduced.
- Search for Head Coaches has begun for all “AAA” and 18U “AA” teams.
- Major Sponsorship Deal made.
So who’s ready to join us, and be a #Chevy for the next five (5) Years?
