End of Summer Season Message

SUMMERSIDE, PE – What an interesting season 2020 has been. SABA and its Board of Directors were thrilled to be able to return to the field this season. Back in March of 2020, things looked very grim. Unfortunately, COVID-19 spread to a point where sports and social gatherings were directly affected.

Living here on Prince Edward Island, we can consider ourselves very lucky. Many provinces across Canada were not given the same opportunities and abilities to carry out baseball operations like we could this season. We can be proud of how our Public Health Office and Government handled and continue to handle this virus. Despite not having as many baseball games, tournaments, and events as we normally do, to provide the kids the opportunity to play competitive ball games and hold practices throughout the summer was and is still rewarding to our members and association as a whole.

Furthermore, we respectfully admit that rules, processes, and regulations were difficult for some to adjust and accept, however, we persevered and all in all felt proud of the opportunity we provided to the kids. We truly appreciate our membership working hand in hand with our association in making this a successful season of baseball. We should all continue having a positive approach in the face of adversity that we experienced this season.

Finally, I want to take this opportunity to thank our players, coaching staff, team managers, volunteers, and of course – you the parents. Our association is nothing without you all. I also cannot forget to thank our summer staff for ensuring our day to day operations run smoothly and the youngest of our members get the opportunity to learn about this great game.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself, thank you for your participation and your continued support to our program.

If you have any questions or concerns following this season, we are always just an email away. Let’s hope that our fall program is as successful as our summer program. Yours in Baseball,

Tanner Doiron
