Both teams were strong on the mound Monday, but Summerside 18U AA Chevys defeated Cardigan Clippers 2-1. Jacob Dunn allowed just four hits to Cardigan Clippers.
In the first inning, Summerside 18U AA Chevys got their offense started when Cody McCormack doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Dunn was the winning pitcher for Summerside 18U AA Chevys. He lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five.
Jack MacKenzie took the loss for Cardigan Clippers. He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out nine.
Nic Gunning, Ty Arsenault, Kalib Snow, Connor Ellsworth, and McCormack each collected one hit to lead Summerside 18U AA Chevys. Summerside 18U AA Chevys didn’t commit a single error in the field. McCormack had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
MacKenzie went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cardigan Clippers in hits.
