Summerside Area Baseball Association (SABA) is extremely excited about the upcoming baseball season and its 42nd year of operation, growing the game and providing baseball opportunities for youth in Summerside and surrounding areas. The Organization has a lot of moving parts from day-to-day operations and a full slate of summer programming. SABA has a need for a team of highly motivated individuals to carry out the necessary tasks of running Prince Edward Islands’ largest baseball organization with 300+ members.
Summerside Area Baseball Association is now calling for applications for the following positions within the organization:
● Programming Coordinator (1 position)
● Program Assistant (2 positions)
● Canteen Attendant (multiple positions)

Position: Program Coordinator
Tenure: Late May-September 2023
Responsible to: SABA President.
Overview: Part-time position | The Program Coordinator has a key role to assist in the provision of administrative support for the association and baseball programming.
Responsibilities / Tasks / Duties:
● To assist in leading, managing and enhancing the association’s summer programming such as the SABA Rookie Ball Programs.
● Responsible for the Associations Communications such as social media, website and other promotions.
● Assist with the promotion of the positive benefits of participation in our programs.
● Promote and publicize opportunities available within the association’s programming and other organizations such as Baseball PEI.
● Assist in organizing and coordinating day camp programs for the association.
● Establish and maintain links with community partners, neighboring communities and the provincial sport bodies such as Baseball PEI
● Coordinate team tryout administrative requirements and the general operations of Tryouts
● Assist in administering inventory duties with the Director of Inventory and Purchasing for the Queen Elizabeth Park Clubhouse.
● Prepare packages, information bulletins and communication pieces for the association members and teams.
● Ensure all team staff are police vetted as appropriate, working with the Director of Administration
● Enter team lists for SABA programs such as Rookie Ball Programs, working with the Director of Membership following registration deadlines
● Work with the Director of Programs on the strategic planning of summer programming.
● Responsible for supervising the Program Assistants during programming or other related events. the
● Will assist the Canteen Coordinator with his / her duties as required
● Will assist the President with his / her duties as required.
● Ensuring all of the association’s facilities are being kept clean and organized.
● Act as the first point of contact for all SABA teams.
● Other duties as required
Remuneration: $16.75/hr. (Vacation Pay Included)
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week (Opportunity for overtime)
Professional Development and Review: The Program Coordinator is expected to attend any professional development sessions in relates to Sports development, introductory coaching and other related sessions as deemed necessary by the President. Their performance will be reviewed with respect to the effectiveness with which the key roles detailed in this job description are being performed.

Position: Program Assistants (two positions)
Tenure: June-September 2023
Responsible to: Program Coordinator/Director of Programs.
Overview: Part-time position | The Program Assistant(s), reporting to the Director of Program(s) during programming sessions and to the Canteen Coordinator during time worked serving our members at the Chevys Canteen are responsible for assisting in the general operations of SABA programs and canteen operations.
Responsibilities / Tasks / Duties:
● Teaching basic baseball fundamentals during SABA’s Rookie programs along with any other association programming.
● Creating fun non-baseball activities for children aged 4-8 that improve motor skills.
● Working in the SABA canteen:
●Handling cash
● Handling food products
●Customer Service
●Inventory Control
● Placing bases and pitching rubbers on the City of Summerside fields for SABA Programming.
● Assisting the Director of Tournaments with any association tournaments.
● Working under the supervision of the Technical Coordinator & Canteen Coordinator
● Other duties as required
Remuneration: $15.25/hr. (Vacation Pay Included)
Hours of Work: 20-25 hours/week (Opportunity for overtime)

Position: Canteen Attendants

Responsible to: Canteen Coordinators
Overview Part-time position / On-Call | The Canteen Attendant(s) position is an important role within the Summerside Baseball organization. Reporting to the Canteen Coordinator, the Canteen Attendants are the front-line customer service workers that deal with membership face to face at our facilities while serving them food and beverage products with a smile. These workers are the backbone of the busy QEP Canteen operation. Responsibilities / Tasks / Duties:
● Selling Products
● Preparing Hot Items
● Handling Cash
● Stocking Shelves
● Inventory Control
● Dealing with customer/membership inquiries on the spot
● Cleaning the canteen area
● Other duties as required
Remuneration: $14.50/hr
Hours of Work: On-call – no guaranteed set hours per week.
Professional Development and Review: Canteen Attendants are expected to attend any training sessions related to food safety, customer service, and other related sessions as deemed necessary by the Canteen Coordinator. Their performance will be reviewed with respect to the effectiveness with which the key roles detailed in this job description are being performed.
