Summerside 18U AA Chevys Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Cardigan Clippers
Summerside 18U AA Chevys stole the lead late in the game in a 12-9 victory over Cardigan Clippers on Saturday. Summerside 18U AA Chevys trailed 9-8 in the top of the fifth inning when Garrett Culleton tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.
Summerside 18U AA Chevys was boosted by Culleton who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Culleton singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth.
Cardigan Clippers opened up scoring in the first inning when Matthew Antle singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Owen Lynch led the Summerside 18U AA Chevys to victory on the hill. He allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out two. Jacob Dunn threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Dunn recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Summerside 18U AA Chevys.
Stewart Barry took the loss for Cardigan Clippers. He surrendered six runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, walking one.
Reese McIsaac started the game for Cardigan Clippers. He went three innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out three Cody McCormack started the game for Summerside 18U AA Chevys. He went one inning, allowing eight runs on three hits
Summerside 18U AA Chevys tallied ten hits on the day. Culleton, Connor Ellsworth, and Duncan Picketts each racked up multiple hits for Summerside 18U AA Chevys.
